Herndon, Va., November 18, 2016 – Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show that it has donated $30,000 to the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation, the official team charity of the Los Angeles Lakers basketball team, dedicated to helping underserved youth.

“Volkswagen of America is proud to support the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation in their mission to cultivate and educate our next generation of young leaders,” said Hinrich J. This donation will help us to continue our work in renovating basketball courts throughout local communities, said Kiesha Nix, executive director, Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation. “Volkswagen is helping us in creating safe places for youth to play basketball, come together with their friends and also learn health and fitness techniques which are all key components of the mission of the organization.”

The Lakers Youth Foundation is committed to transforming the lives of low-income youth through an array of services in education, health, wellness and sports. The donation made by Volkswagen of America, Inc., will be allocated to support the foundation’s ongoing programs and operations.
