VOLKSWAGEN GROUP OF AMERICA FOUNDATION DONATES $150,000 TO AMERICAN RED CROSS TO AID HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF

HERNDON, VA (August 31, 2017) — The Volkswagen Group of America Foundation, created by Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA), announced today that it has donated $150,000 to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Harvey relief efforts following the catastrophic flooding and life-threatening damage from the storm across the Gulf Coast and inland areas.  

"With this donation, VWGoA is helping the American Red Cross provide some relief to those who have been affected by this devastating storm,” said David Geanacopoulos, Senior Executive Vice President for Public Affairs and Public Policy, Volkswagen Group of America. “We extend our thoughts and concern to all of those affected, including our employees, dealers and their families living and working in the impacted areas. We remain in constant contact with our teams in the area and will continue to support them as they work to rebuild their communities.” 

The Foundation’s donation will be allocated across the Red Cross’ operations in Texas and other Gulf Coast states, to support relief efforts including providing food, shelter, health services and other assistance to families affected by the storm. Additionally, under the Matching Gift Donation Program, Volkswagen Group of America will provide matching funds for any employee donations made to the American Red Cross or other charities in support of those communities impacted by Hurricane Harvey.   

The Volkswagen Group of America Foundation, founded in 2001, was formed by the Volkswagen Group of America, Inc., to make grants to charitable organizations, including those that provide disaster relief.
