VOLKSWAGEN GOLF SPORTWAGEN NAMED BEST WAGON IN 2019 AUTOWEB BUYER'S CHOICE AWARDS

Jan 7, 2019

The German-engineered wagon built for practicality and performance hits a home run with buyers

Herndon, VA (January 7, 2019) — Volkswagen of America, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 2018 Golf SportWagen was named Best Wagon in the 2019 AutoWeb Buyer’s Choice Awards. The awards represent the most in-demand vehicle in each category, based on price quote requests submitted on AutoWeb’s network of automotive websites.

“We are very proud of this win for Golf SportWagen,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and After Sales for Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The SportWagen offers a unique blend of style, spaciousness and Volkswagen’s hallmark fun-to-drive nature, and awards like this serve as proof point that we are hitting the mark with buyers.”

“Unlike awards comprised of editors’ top picks, the AutoWeb Buyer’s Choice Awards represent the most in-demand vehicles among millions of consumers,” said Jared Rowe, president and CEO of AutoWeb.  “This year’s winning manufacturers are clearly delivering products that best meet the needs of today’s car buyers.  More than ever, consumers expect the best in buying, driving, and ownership experiences. Congratulations to all the winners for developing vehicles that match, and often exceed, these expectations.”

The Buyer’s Choice Awards are compiled from price quote data from more than 120 million consumers who visited AutoWeb's network of automotive websites from October 2017 to October 2018, compared to all other vehicles in their competitive sets.  Data in 17 car shopping sub-categories was analyzed for these awards.

The 2018 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen is the only German-engineered mass-market wagon on sale in the U.S. and boasts a potent blend of performance and practicality.  The 2018 Golf SportWagen comes standard with a 1.8-liter, 170hp engine, is available in three trim levels—S, SE, and SEL—and offers available 4Motion® all-wheel drive. MSRP starts at $21,685.
